Seed counts range from 7,500 - 8,100/lb. Some growers cold moist stratify the seed for faster, more uniform germination. There are times when a short cold stratification will increase the germination %. Has problems with shoot tip pine moth. (Note: Pinus halepensis brutia does not have this problem as it is resistant). Does not like wet feet. Does not grow well in acidic soils but prefers alkaline soils. Drought hardy. |
