Seed is de-winged with a minimum cut test of 50% The hot water treatment followed by the warm stratification is to soften a hard seed coat. The hard seed coat inhibits the seeds ability to cold stratify by not allowing the uptake of water. The hard seed coat also mechanically stops the seed from expanding to allow the roots and cotyledons to emerge. Beautiful exfoliating cinnamon-orange bark. Transplants best in the Spring. Some individual trees produce only staminate (male) flowers while others produce perfect flowers (male & female). Staminate flowers will not produce seeds. |
