This is a CLEANED SEED. Husk removed and upgraded to remove most hollow seeds. Seed collected when the bracts are brown in color (but the seeds inside are still green) kept moist and sown in the Fall will germinate in the Spring . This means seeds collected this way do not require the warm stratification. The drying of the seed induces the requirement for the warm stratification period (our seed is dried). Not practical for large amounts of seed. Difficult to get this seed every year. The seed husk can irritate the skin the same way as fiberglass insulation; not a problem with the cleaned seed |
