Comments: |
The seed if collected and not allowed to dry will germinate promptly. Seed that is dried tends to develop a hard seed coat that does not allow the entry of water. So the hot water treatment or other forms of scarification prior to sowing or stratification is recommended. May include Calycanthus floridus var. glauca |
Germination info: |
We recommend a hot water treatment to soften the seed coat followed by 30 days cold moist stratification. Some growers just do a warm water soak 24-48 hours and then sown in the Spring. |
